COVID-19 Company Statement - Last updated 20/05/2020
We are closely following the government guidelines on the COVID-19 as it develops.
The safety of our staff, our customers and the communities we serve will always be our number one priority.
Therefore, we have implemented the work from home strategy for all of our office staff. We have temporarily closed our office premises until further notice.
Any non essential abseiling work has been placed on hold until further notice. However, some of our clients provide essential maintenance and services to keep our critical infrastructure maintained, secure and operational during this current crisis. In light of this, a small team of abseilers are kept on standby to help in these cases.
To minimise risk, our operatives will be travelling by company van in order to avoid public transport to their place of work. Company vans will be cleaned regularly especially steering wheels, gear sticks, hand breaks etc.
Our staff will follow social distancing rules. We are to maintain a 2 metre distance at all times (only with the exception of rope access rescue.
If our operatives show any of the following symptoms,
• high temperature
• a persistent cough
• loss of Smell and/or taste
They should;
• Return home immediately
• Avoid touching anything
If symptoms worsen you must get advice from www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by dialling 111 must be used as a last resort.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Our company standards on PPE must be adhered to at all times, but during this period of COVID-19 restrictions extra control measures will be enforced:
• Latex gloves must be worn underneath normal task specific site gloves
• Latex gloves must be worn once and thrown away in a rubbish bin
• Facemasks is equipped to all our staff and must be worn
• Single use PPE should be disposed of so that it cannot be reused
BREAKS
Where possible, our staff will stagger their breaks if there is a team working onsite more than 2 technicians. We must take breaks in teams of 2 for health and safety reasons ie in case of rescue. Our staff is not to leave site during their breaks.
CLEANING AND HYGIENE
Always wash hands when you get home or into work, with soap & water for at least 20 seconds. Also before and after eating or drinking/smoking/use of welfare facilities Use hand sanitiser.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

Contract Abseiling Limited is totally committed to a policy of prevention, reduction and elimination of all undesired events that could or do result in loss and to protect the interest of the Company and our Client at all times.
To achieve this aim, we have embarked on a Risk Management system and formed a Health and Safety Committee which will encompass all sections and areas of our operation.
We have achieved CHAS and Constructionline accreditation. We are also members of RISQS thus working through the categories within the railway industry as a service provider.
The specific objectives of this program are,
- To place paramount emphasis on the prevention of accidents.
- Prompt accident notification, investigation and reporting.
- Protection of property, equipment and material from all incidents.
- The establishment and maintenance of safe, healthy and productive working environment.
It is vital that all employees and contractors who are working on behalf of Contract Abseiling Limited commit themselves to the attainment of these objectives by ensuring that every task is done safety and in accordance with the project policy, procedure, standards and managerial instruction.
